Year 2, week 14: FoodFights

Over the past few months one of the current crop of pupils has slowly gained the nickname TightNuts around chambers due to the fact that you’ll never get so much as a bag of nuts out of him when it comes to a round at the bar.  Short arms, long pockets.  Anyway, he’s outdoing even Worrier on little money-making scams to make endsmeet.  Apparently he’s writing two letters of complaint each day to a major foodseller or manufacturer with a concocted complaint about a particular item of food.  Standard form letter for each.  Makes mention of the Supply of Goods Act and explains the lack of receipt on the basis that he didn’t expect there to be anything wrong in the first place.  He told me today that the average response is between £20 and £30 in vouchers.

He says it’s all part of his GoodLife plan for self-sufficiency.

Typical student trick (although students are a tad more honest and actually purchase their defective foodstuffs).
