Day 224, week 45: DayTrader

Poor Worrier.  I passed her room this evening on my way out of chambers and saw her busily packing a whole bunch of parcels.  She explained that she’s still got money problems and that one of her clients had told her the other day that becoming an ebay trader was the way forward.  So, she’s selling all her law books and CDs for one pence each and then she figures on making the money on the postage by putting it all through the chambers postal system.  Seems a bit risky but given the amount of postage going through chambers, I doubt anyone would found out.

Unless of course, it was quietly brought to their attention.  Which poses a problem since simply to dob her in would probably end up reflecting worse on me as it might give the impression of being petty and somewhat, how might they deem it? Unsporting, perhaps?  Golly.  Perish the thought!  Eventually I opted for making an anonymous phone call to the Inn from whom chambers rent their building and suggested that a barrister was running another business on the side in breach of the terms of the lease.

That should be enough to get HeadofChambers going.

You are a cunning son of a bitch. I hope I never become your enemy!

How accessible is the post? I think BabyB may be getting lax in his old age! Substituting some old newspaper for the books would surely create an accusation of fraud? And E-Bay will chase if the address is contactable.
You could throw the ‘unauthorised trading’ titbit in when the investigation starts?

Nice one BabyB! Although, as you are looking for tenancy don’t make yourself homeless!

Now might perhaps be a good moment to remember the adage about not kicking a dog when its down…. (with ‘dog’ carrying the original sense and strictly no pejoritative connitation)
